We Need Your Help!
Domestic Violence service providers across Louisiana are facing their second budget crisis in 2 months. The plan includes a cut of $1.4 million dollars to domestic violence services; this is in addition to the $1 million governor Jindal administration cut in the December, mid-year budget adjustments. Programs will be losing $2.4 million of the $6.2 million the state was spending on domestic violence services and more than 38% of their funding from DCFS in just over six months. Call, email legislators or follow-up with people you have met with and tell them you need them to return this line item to its previous $6.2 million (this was the amount before the mid year cuts).
Join us at the Pussyfooters’ Blush Ball on January 18, 2014 at The Cannery, 3803 Toulouse St., New Orleans, for an evening of fun with a purpose. All proceeds from the Blush Ball benefit Metro. Metro helps survivors who are fleeing domestic violence situations or are recovering from sexual assault.
Purchase a ticket for the Marh 16, 2014, Pelicans vs. the Celtics game at the new Orleans Arena. Metro has tickets for sale for the game or you can purchase your tickets directly from the Pelicans. Mention the GNO Corvette Club if you plan to buy your tickets from the Pelicans. See you at the game!
Fat Boy Race
The annual Fat Boy 5K race to benefit Metro wil be held at LaSalle Park, 6600 Airline Dr., Metairie, on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Come enjoy the race and -as an added bonus-see the Corvettes from the greater New Orleans Corvette Club! We are looking for additional sponsors for the race. Contact Metro at 504-837-5400 for more information or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
